Dolly, 4th Chief Hamster of Hamsterland, was the 4th and first female Chief Hamster of the State of Hamsterland between 11 August 2023 when Bamse died and her own death in February 2024. She was also the first Chief Hamster to take office immidietly following the death of their predeccessor. Before becoming Chief Hamster she served as the nations first Deputy Chief Hamster from February 2023. She is the oldest hamster to ever be inaugurated as Chief Hamster.
Early life
Dolly was born on 12 January 2022 in Gävle. Early in her life it was decided that she would be used for breeding in the future. In late 2022 she therefore gave birth to a horde of hamster pups that she would raise over the following months. Once her pups were grown up and been put up for adoption her owners no longer had need for her, as it would be unsafe for her to get pregnant a second time. She was put up for adoption in January 2023 and the next month she was adopted into the State of Hamsterland with the approval of the Chief Hamster Bamse, Congress and the government.
Deputy Chief Hamster
Shortly before her official adoption the Government and Chief Hamster had the office of Deputy Chief Hamster created for her. This office would overtake the Chief Hamsters ceremonial roles as Head of Government and be responsible for approving the Governments agenda proposed by the Chief of Government. Dolly would assume this office on the 12th of February 2023 when Congress approved the formation of the office with opposition only from the Socialist Party. She would in her role as Deputy Chief Hamster oversee the nations first struggles caused by the global cost of living crisis and work to keep the ever more fractured Triumvirate Government togheter and unified on important issues (Only officially done by her, as she is only a hamster, work delegated to Secretary of Internal Affairs).
Early in her tenure she was known to be rebellious and far from willing to work within the boundraries of her office. Many were bitten by here during this time and Congress proposed that she be stripped of her position 3 times, each time vetoed by the Chief Hamster on advice of the Government. She was however temporarily forbidden from exceresising her powers duing March 2023. She was a key player in the planning of Bamses 2nd Birthday and 2 year Anniversary as Chief Hamster, the first such celebrations in the countries history. On the 9th of August she was made acting head of state by Bamse due to his declining health. 2 days later he passed away.
Chief Hamster
Upon Bamses death Dolly immediately became the nations 4th Chief Hamster, the first female to hold the office and the first to ascend to the position without a selection process. Her first decision was to begin the search for a new Deputy Chief Hamster and confirm that the Triumvirate Government would remain. On 13 August 2023 she presided of the State Funeral of Bamse making her the first Chief Hamster to preside over the funeral of another. The next day her inauguration ceremony was held largely following the pattern of previous ceremonies, however being scaled down with fewer guests and a shorter time span to account for the ongoing crisis. On September 20th she would issue a decree on behalf of the Government declaring that both houses of Congress be put on recess whilst the Government would operate abroad from the Republic of Turkey due to them taking a holiday leave. Dolly would remain in Hamsterland. 9 days later on the 29th Congress would be recalled after the governments return to discuss the appointment of Gizmo as Deputy Chief Hamster. This proposal was approved and the next day he was formally appointed to the office by Dolly.
Following the 2024 Elections Dolly would get to play her first active role in the nations politics as she dismissed the Triumvirate Government on 15 January 2024 and 5 days later appointed Libertarian Party Leader Anna Eriksson, one of the Chiefs of the Triumvirate, as new sole Chief of the Government. However this involvement would be short lasted. On January 28th her health started to deteriorate. She was put under medical supervision the 2 days later after suffering a severe stroke and Gizmo was declared to be acting head of state. Dolly passed away on 5 February 2024 and is the shortest serving Chief Hamster to date. Due to the cold weather the ground at the Tomb of Chief Hamsters is currently frozen. Therefore Dollys funeral will be held once the ice melts. Before then a State Memorial Ceremony is expected to be held.
